Old Rare
I have hundreds of old rare comic books where can I see how much they are worth for free?

I have about 250 comic books, they are dc, marvel, and many more. Some even nude. I just dont know anything about them. I am trying to find a place online just to see how much they are really worth.

The natural place would be http://www.rarityguide.com/forums/price-check/

The Beatles’ last days as a band were as productive as any major pop phenomenon that was about to split. After recording the ragged-but-right Let It Be, the group held on for this ambitious effort, an album that was to become their best-selling. Though all four contribute to the first side’s writing, John Lennon’s hard-rocking, “Come Together” and “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)” make the strongest i…

Catalog of Rare Old Violins, Violas, Violoncellos, Bows of Rare Makes

$17.98

Purchase of this book includes free trial access to www.million-books.com where you can read more than a million books for free. This is an OCR edition with typos. Excerpt from book: Rare Old Violas Antonius And Hieronimus Amati, Cremona, 1619 Number 5399. This magnificent specimen was brought to England toward the end of the 18th century by Giordini, a celebrated Italian musician, who sold it to Lord Aylesford, an enthusiastic amateur and collector. It was purchased by Hill, the elder, from Lord Aylesford’s grandson. Our connoisseur secured the instrument for our collection several years ago, and at that time we disposed of it to complete a quartet of fine instruments in the possession of an American amateur. At his death the viola again came into our possession. The model is very beautifully developed and of graceful outline. The wood throughout is of the choicest selection. The back is of two pieces of handsome curly maple. The top of spruce of fine grain. The varnish is of a dark amber color. The instrument is in a splendid state of preservation, and possesses a large"tone of very sympathetic quality. An ideal quartet instrument. Price: $3,000 Gasparo Da Salo, Brescia, About 1550 Number 5175. One of the most interesting instruments which has ever come into our hands. It was originally purchased in Italy by our collector, about 1900. At that time it was in its old Italian brass studded case, with hand forged lock and handle. It has very recently come again into our possession. It is a viola with ideal tone for quartet work and is not too large in size for the average player. Dark brown varnish, ornamented back and top. It is in splendid playing order. Price: $1,600 Julius Caesar Gigli, Rome 1786 Number 5240. Splendid specimen of this well known maker’s work. Flat type. Back, one piece flamed maple, with sides to match. Top, siruce of fine grain. Brownish red varnish. Ideal viola for chamber music. Exquisite quali…

Rare Wildflowers of Kentucky

Rare Wildflowers of Kentucky

$30.48

Kentucky’s rich soil and wonderfully diverse landscapes have for centuries made the state a welcoming habitat for a dazzling variety of wildflowers. From the delicate Kentucky glade cress to the fiery royal catchfly, flowers, grasses, and sedges nestle on rocky hillsides, bask in open woodlands and prairies, and even manage to thrive in busy rights of way and roadsides. As demand for natural resources and land for development and housing in the Commonwealth grows, land use and habitats are quickly changing. Unfortunately, this translates into disappearing or degraded habitats for a host of remarkable wildflowers. Currently 255 plant species in Kentucky are considered endangered or threatened, and there are more than 50 potential additions to the list. Rare Wildflowers of Kentucky provides an introduction to Kentucky’s signature rare plants with 220 gorgeous full-color photographs by Thomas G. Barnes, a naturalist and award-winning photographer. These rare wildflowers and their descriptions are organized by habitat, and the book draws attention to the enduring beauty of Kentucky’s old-growth forests, prairies, wetlands, and other habitats. In addition to serving as a stunning photographic record of Kentucky’s rare plants, the book examines ecological communities and the ways in which they are threatened. The authors also explain how various plants have become endangered over the decades and suggest concrete steps for conservation and preservation at both the government and private level. The book also includes references, a list of scientific and common species names, and a list of each plant’s endangered status that is especially useful to gardeners, botanists, and horticultural professionals. Rare Wildflowers of Kentucky is both a celebration and a call to action to save the plants that are a vital part of Kentucky’s natural heritage.

Rare Masters

Rare Masters

$23.98

At the time Rare Masters was released in 1992, most of the selections on this 37-track double-disc compilation were indeed rare. They were issued on non-LP singles, B-sides, the Friends soundtrack, one-offs; some were buried on album tracks, and some even stayed in the vault. Since then, Elton John’s catalog has been remastered and reissued, with much of the best of this material appearing as bonus tracks, but the album still was worthwhile, since it not only has some songs that never appeared elsewhere on disc (such as “Step Into Christmas”‘ B-side, “(Ho Ho Ho) Who’d Be a Turkey at Christmas”), but it also is a hell of a listen in its own right, showcasing great songs and forgotten gems from John’s prime period. There aren’t too many hits here, but the quality is startlingly high and consistent, showcasing John and Taupin’s partnership at its peak — though they might not have hit the charts, “Bad Side of the Moon,” “Rock & Roll Madonna,” “Into the Old Man’s Shoes,” “Whenever You’re Ready (We’ll Go Steady Again),” “Screw You (Young Man’s Blues),” and the radio staple “Madman Across the Water,” plus “Grey Seal” (later re-recorded for Goodbye Yellow Brick Road) are among the finest songs of the era, and they’re the linchpins on a rarities collection, not a proper album. It doesn’t quite keep that same high level throughout, largely due to the pleasant but forgettable instrumentals from Friends, but it’s still an essential part of any Elton John collection. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi Performers: Elton John – Keyboards, Vocals, Piano

High Temperature Rare Earths Superconductors - I

High Temperature Rare Earths Superconductors – I

$335.98

This volume of the Handbook is the first of a two-volume set of reviews devoted to the rare-earth-based high-temperature oxide superconductors (commonly known as hiTC superconductors). The history of hiTC superconductors is a few months short of being 14 years old when Bednorz and Muller published their results which showed that (La, BA)2CuO4 had a superconducting transition of 30 K, which was about 7K higher than any other known superconducting material. Within a year the upper temperature limit was raised to nearly 100K with the discovery of an 90K superconducting transition in YBa2Cu3O7-&dgr;. The announcement of a superconductor with a transition temperature higher than the boiling point of liquid nitrogen set-off a frenzy of research on trying to find other oxide hiTC superconductors. Within a few months the maximum superconducting transition reached 110 K (Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3010, and then 122K (TlBa2Ca3Cu4O11. It took several years to push TC up another 11 K to 133 K with the discovery of superconductivity in HgBa2Ca2Cu3O8, which is still the record holder today.

Many blues harmonica summits have been staged in concert settings and recording studios around the world, a popular showcase for the most mobile instrument in all musics. Severn Records head honcho and producer David Earl has organized this collection of six veteran and contemporary figures of the blues harp, mostly lesser-known performers all deserving of a higher profile as they each get two shots apiece to display their wares. The songs are mostly modifications of famous Chicago-style urban electric tunes everybody will recognize, with new lyrics attached. What makes this collection unique is the individual personalities shaping the character of these new blues tunes, revived from the Southside-style with contemporary, updated themes, while sticking with the tried-and-true 12-bar tradition. Each harmonica player is teamed up with a house band, led by guitarists Rick Kreher, Illinois Slim, and Mark “Max” Brumbach. Little Arthur Duncan, who passed away shortly after these sessions, is the most famous of the six, fully exploiting his loose Jimmy Reed-style singing and solid harmonic playing on the Howlin’ Wolf-type tune “Can’t Stand It No More” and the chooglin’-down-the-road “Gone to Main Street.” While Jeff Taylor is revered in blues circles, he’s not well-known nationally, but struts his stuff as teamed up with Russ Green during the sweet-home-Chicago-type shuffle “Gangster of Love,” telling the tale of cowboys and bad guys from the old west in contemporary terms. Charlie Love’s whooshing harp style on the rough-and-tumble “Ooh Baby, Hold Me” and a pissed-off “Twelve Year Old Boy” taking umbrage about an adolescent stealing his girlfriend offers opposite sides of relationship blues. Harmonica Hinds is perhaps the most talented musician, playing hard and fast on “Kill That Mouse” and the stretched-out instrumental jam “Sunday Morning Blues,” evoking the influences of Little Walter and Magic Sam alongside Brumbach’s excellent piano comping. Big D gives us the slow, slinky plead of “I’ve Got to Be with You Tonight,” and the looser blues love story “Well You Know,” while Reginald Cooper brings on the “Wang Dang Doodle”-imaged shuffle “Shade Tree Mechanic” and the slow blues “Give Me Back That Wig” (not the similarly titled Hound Dog Taylor classic). While not a definitive collection, it’s a good one, quite representative of the second and third generation of blues harp players roaming the Earth. ~ Michael G. Nastos, Rovi Performers: Russel Green – Harmonica; Illinois Slim – Guitar; Mark Brumbach – Piano; Rick Kreher – Guitar; Twist Turner – Drums

Auber: Overtures and Rare Ballets

Auber: Overtures and Rare Ballets

$15.18

Composer François Auber was a major figure in nineteenth century French music, as well known as Richard Wagner and Franz Liszt. Auber’s immense popularity in his own time has not helped his case since his death, as conventional wisdom dictates that the reason for Auber’s neglect is the slight nature of his music’s substance. This collection, Auber: Ouvertures et ballets rares, has arrived to set the record straight, and helps to establish that Auber may be the missing link in the main musical development of the Romantic era.One can hear in the “Bolero” and “Air” from the 1823 opera Vendome en Espagne that Auber had already learned the lessons of Beethoven. By the time of La Sirène in 1844, he approaches a style strongly reminiscent of Tchaikovsky, which is striking as the Russian composer was only a year old at the time this work was composed! From the slow opening of the same work, one can easily deduce what Richard Wagner may have gleaned from the work of Auber, although Wagner openly detested the composer. The specter of Rossini never seems very far from Auber’s music, and it’s hard to say who influenced whom. But more so than in Rossini you hear glimpses of music in Auber that belong in the future, particularly resembling that of later Russian composers. This is the most satisfying-sounding disc from Sterling, and though it’s still a little distant, every detail of the orchestration is heard. Conductor B. Tommy Andersson does a fine job of interpreting this mega-obscure music. In sum, if you lament that you’ve already exhausted the main literature of the Romantic era, this disc of Auber’s orchestral music will cause you to think again. ~ Uncle Dave Lewis , Rovi

Boozehound: On the Trail of the Rare, the Obscure, and the Overrated in Spirits

$19.48

Part travelogue, part spirits history, and part recipe collection, "Boozehound" is a journalistic excursion into lesser-known, forgotten, and misunderstood spirits for adventurous imbibers of liquors, bitters, and elixirs from around the world. As a teenager, Jason Wilson pilfered shots from a dusty bottle of sambuca discovered in his parents’ pantry. Today, he’s a "Washington Post" spirits columnist who traverses the globe to explore the origins of what we drink and the reasons behind our choices. In "Boozehound," Wilson lets us tag along as he tracks unusual libations, uncovering the secrets of their flavors and sharing their fascinating histories in the process. Wilson champions Old World liquors with hard-to-define tastes–a bitter and complex Italian "amari," the ancient herbs of Chartreuse–and distinctive New World spirits like Peruvian pisco while seeking out visceral experiences in tucked-away taverns and the sources of production. He’s the first journalist to infiltrate the Jagermeister herb room (where he furtively tried to deduce the secret 56-ingredient recipe), and he journeys to the French Alps to determine if mustachioed men in berets really handpick flowers to make elderflower liqueur. This intrepid travel narrative combines Wilson’s bartending know-how with recipes and cultural analysis as it unravels the mysteries of taste, trends, terroir, and the peculiar alchemy behind the world’s intoxicants.

Welsh Rare Beat, Vol. 2

Welsh Rare Beat, Vol. 2

$30.98

It’s the second volume that’s always the test of an anthology series. You could make a good single disc out of just about any musical sub-subgenre, no matter how microscopic. So that Welsh Rare Beat, Vol. 2, the follow-up to Super Furry Animals leader Gruff Rhys’ highly enjoyable 2005 anthology of vintage Welsh-language singles from the ’60s and early ’70s, is just about its equal is quite heartening: there may be yet more to come. Of course, one shouldn’t be surprised: Great Britain as a whole produced a seemingly inexhaustible supply of toe-tapping 45s between the death of trad jazz and the birth of punk, and someone could no doubt make an equally compelling set of 22 tracks by bands hailing from, say, the Upper Hebrides. It’s the pleasantly alien sound of the Welsh language that makes these songs sound so odd at first listen: Y Diliau ’72′s “Ffair Ynys Hir,” a Welsh-language version of the trad folk standard “Scarborough Fair,” opens the album with just enough of a point of comparison to make things linguistically easy, but after that, all bets are off. What becomes immediately obvious upon listening to these tracks is that, had most of them been recorded in English, they would already be quite well known to obscurity hunters. For example, Heather Jones’ “Can O Dristwch” and “Can I Janis” both trot along quite perkily, like vintage pieces of Greenaway/Cook style AM radio pop circa 1971. After a peculiar spoken introduction, “Shw’ Mae? Shw’ Mae?” by Meic Stevens (widely hailed as the Paul McCartney of Welsh pop, and deservedly so) is a fine little nugget of ear candy. Sandy Denny-style folk with a stark female voice and acoustic guitar (Eleri Llwyd’s “Cariad Cyntaf”), cool, echoey folk-rock (Galwad y Mynydd’s “Niwi y Mor”), sugary sweet bubblegum (Sidan’s gloriously sunshiny “Cymylau” and the more glammy, ABBA-like strut of Eleri Llwyd’s “Dawns,” quite a departure from her more staid earlier song) and even a cool, easy listening instrumental (AD 73′s “Higher and Higher”) are to be found here, making Welsh Rare Beat, Vol. 2 like an impressively concise potted history of most of the teeny bopper pop trends of the time and place. The fairly thorough liner notes do a good job of placing the songs in their proper cultural context, but just listening is enough: this is hugely enjoyable stuff not just for historians and obscurantists, but for good old-fashioned ’70s pop fans as well. ~ Stewart Mason, Rovi
