Moon Dough Barn – Messy Fun For Kids this Christmas
Moon Dough Barn is a fun creative toy for young children. It will probably suit those aged between 3 and 5 best. They need to be old enough to know that you can’t put everything in your mouth yet young enough to like playing with things like play dough and sand. Although, in saying that, it doesn’t seem to matter what age the child is, when it comes to dough, they all seem to need to taste it.
Moon Dough is pliable like clay or play dough but the benefit is that it never dries out so you can use it over and over again. It is non toxic and hypo allergenic but it still shouldn’t be eaten. If you have young kids you will be used to mess so won’t find Moon Dough Barn too much of a problem. In fact if anything it is much easier to clean up than play dough is. This is fantastic news for your carpets, as it won’t harden, which usually makes it impossible to remove.
The idea behind Moon Dough Barn is to create fun barn yard scenes using the dough and the molds included in the set. You can make cows or sheep to sit in your barn. Younger kids will need some help getting the dough out of the mold while still retaining the shape of an animal. But the kids will love them even if they are not perfect. It is great stimulation for little minds, and is really good for their cognitive skills.
Kids love messy play and it is great for them. It stimulates creativity and their imagination. They get a kick out of creating things for their parents to admire. Most people have commented on the fact that the dough is squishy to touch and very light weight. If you work the molds correctly you will see some very good detailing such as the stalks of hay in the bale sets. Most reviewers did find that the molds weren’t as easy to use as the adverts suggested. This didn’t appear to take away any of the fun for the kids though who seemed to really enjoy making their creations. The quality of the pieces produced did improve with practice and given the dough doesn’t dry out you can practice again and again. You will probably see a few Picasso’s before you get to the Da Vinci stage.
If you do buy Moon Dough Barn for your kids you may want to encourage them to play it out on the porch or in a designated area of your home. The manufacturer hasn’t included any storage boxes or bags so you might want to invest in a couple of cheap boxes to store the moon dough when not in use. Tupperware is great for storing dough in, usually due to the air-tightness, but as Moon Dough won’t dry out, cheaper versions should do just as well.
Mood Dough Barn is a great educational toy as it will help develop their fine motor skills as well as their creativity and imagination. Your toddler will have hours of fun playing with their new toy. If they like the barn you can pick up other pieces in the range including the popular Moon Dough Pizza that looks good enough to eat. Just remember to tell them, not to eat it.
